Planning a late-October outdoor swim in London? The exact venue matters. The City of London’s current notice gives Sunday, October 25, 2026 as the Mixed Pond’s final public swimming session before its winter closure, with reopening planned for spring 2027. That is a specific notice for Hampstead Mixed Pond; it does not establish the opening status of every swimming facility on Hampstead Heath. Read the Mixed Pond’s official notice.

Two changes to put in your diary

Alongside the seasonal closure notice, the venue page says swimming facilities moved to cashless payments from October 1, 2026. It describes the Mixed Pond as deep, opaque water intended for competent swimmers. Posted site restrictions include glass, alcohol, smoking or vaping, and sharp items. These are venue conditions, rather than a new UK-wide swimming law.

The separate official swimming-ticket page confirms the cashless change and distinguishes bathing-pond tickets from Parliament Hill Lido tickets. Its listed prices are valid to March 31, 2027, but a price-validity date does not mean a particular pond remains open throughout that period. Seasonal access and ticket validity answer different questions.

Make a venue-specific visit plan

Our recommendation is to save a short note with the exact facility name, the date you intend to visit, and a link to its live notice. A screenshot can help you remember the plan, but check the operator’s page again before setting off: an older saved timetable cannot confirm today’s access.

  • Name the site. A search result for “Hampstead swimming” may refer to a different pond or the Lido.
  • Check the session. Confirm the day’s opening hours and any booking instructions for that facility.
  • Prepare payment. Choose a payment method the operator currently accepts.
  • Review the bag. Check site restrictions before packing bottles, picnic items or other accessories.

Keep equipment questions separate from entry permission

Buying outdoor swimming equipment does not establish whether a venue is open, whether its conditions suit you, or whether the operator permits a particular item. Start with the venue’s access information, then ask about equipment you actually need. This order helps avoid buying around an assumed visit that the published timetable does not support.

For a question about a product listed on this site, contact TRIMIX with its name and the intended activity. Confirm access and permitted equipment directly with the swimming venue.
