Shearwater’s October 1, 2026 Jetpack CE-marking announcement is relevant to divers following the Avelo system’s European expansion. It also raises a practical buying question: which parts of a complete diving system are actually included?
A specific product milestone
Shearwater states that the Jetpack completed EU Type-Examination under the personal protective equipment framework and demonstrated conformity with EN 250. The manufacturer describes this as opening the European market for the Jetpack. This is a report of that specific manufacturer announcement, rather than an independent conformity assessment by TRIMIX or a claim about every component carrying the same brand.
The announcement identifies Avelo as the developer of the system and its training approach, with Shearwater leading Jetpack manufacturing. This concerns equipment for a different approach to buoyancy control, rather than a conventional accessory to add casually to any existing setup.
Read the “not included” answer
The current product FAQ says a Hydrotank is not included with the Jetpack. It directs readers to Avelo Dive Centers for rental or purchase arrangements. The same page says the integrated transmitter works with Shearwater air-integrated computers that have the Avelo Mode update installed.
Those details matter more to an actual equipment inquiry than a photograph of the assembled system. A product shown beside a cylinder or computer is not, by itself, a complete inventory of what a buyer receives. Put the included equipment and the separately arranged equipment into two explicit lists.
Separate access, training and compatibility
There are at least three conversations to have. One concerns the exact equipment supplied. Another concerns appropriate Avelo training and local support. The third concerns the existing computer and the software it needs. A positive answer in one conversation does not automatically settle the other two.
For a travel diver, it is also reasonable to ask a prospective dive center what it can actually provide for the intended dates. A market-access announcement cannot establish a particular center’s inventory, servicing capacity or availability. This article makes no claim about those local conditions.
A useful written inquiry includes the computer’s full model name, its current software information and the intended training or rental arrangement. Ask the relevant authorized provider to confirm the complete system. Avoid reducing the decision to whether a familiar logo appears on the equipment.
For catalog questions about TRIMIX’s own products, use TRIMIX support. TRIMIX has not tested the Jetpack, verified an individual system or represented itself here as an Avelo or Shearwater dealer.
Dates and scope: Manufacturer announcement October 1, 2026; announcement and living product FAQ checked October 23. This is a past-month system-access development. It is not an operating guide or a newly conducted equipment test.
