Planning next year’s diving can start with a training question: what would you like to be better prepared to do? BSAC’s October 20, 2026 announcement says its national and regional 2027 training programme is available to search and book. The calendar is a useful planning resource when the course matches a specific learning goal.

What the October announcement changes

In its 2027 programme announcement, BSAC lists Skill Development Courses, instructor training, and Diver Training Days among the options. It also says members can search BSAC Centre events alongside national and regional events through MyBSAC, with location and event-type filters.

The announcement concerns access to the programme. It does not mean every course is suitable for every diver, that all sessions are free, or that a place is reserved merely because an event appears in a search.

Separate course purpose from a convenient date

The public Programme of Events 2026/27 groups courses by type and links to individual booking information. At the time checked, it included both diving and snorkeling options, and both online theory and location-based events. Check the exact listing rather than assuming a shared title means an identical format.

Write down your purpose before comparing dates. You might want to develop a particular snorkeling skill, progress within an existing qualification pathway, or explore instructor training. A narrowly defined aim makes it easier to ask whether the course content and entry requirements fit.

A five-point booking checklist

  • Eligibility: Ask which qualifications, experience, membership arrangements, or other prerequisites apply to that event.
  • Format: Confirm which parts are online, which require attendance, and whether separate theory and practical sessions must be booked.
  • Location: Read the actual venue and meeting details. A regional label may cover more than one site.
  • Equipment: Ask what is supplied, what students bring, and which exact requirements will be confirmed by the organizer.
  • Costs and changes: Check the current fee, any additional costs, cancellation conditions, and what happens if the schedule changes.

Keep the organizer’s answer with the course confirmation. If you are traveling from another country or training agency, ask about your particular background before arranging transport. A general calendar entry cannot assess that for you.

Let the course guide an equipment shortlist

It is sensible to settle the training requirements before buying a bundle for the occasion. Make a list of what you already own, what can be used under the organizer’s requirements, and what remains to be confirmed. Avoid choosing an unfamiliar item solely because its name resembles the course topic.

For conventional masks, our snorkeling mask fit checklist helps organize a personal comparison. It complements the organizer’s instructions and does not establish course eligibility.
