An inspection sticker or cylinder test record can answer one question while leaving another unanswered. When planning ownership of a mini scuba system, keep the pressure vessel and the breathing assembly visible as separate maintenance responsibilities. A cylinder test is not a blanket service certificate for everything attached to it.
Split the record into the item actually assessed
The T-500 manual, storage and maintenance section describes inspection or maintenance by an authorized dealer or professional diving organization, and discusses cylinder hydrostatic testing and visual inspection separately. It also identifies damage conditions and warns against unauthorized disassembly. The practical lesson for a purchase is to ask what was inspected, by whom and against which requirements, rather than accepting the single word serviced.
Keep local acceptance in the same file
In its November 28, 2022 cylinder-testing explanation, BSAC describes the role of accredited testing stations and the checks associated with workplace filling in the UK. That is UK-context guidance, not a worldwide declaration that one test interval or one sticker applies everywhere. A manufacturer’s schedule and the rules applicable to the actual cylinder and location both need assessment.
- Cylinder record: identity, relevant inspection or test, provider and next applicable assessment.
- Breathing-assembly record: model, service work actually completed, provider and applicable schedule.
- Exception record: any damage, suspected contamination or fault requiring assessment before the next scheduled service.
- Filling record: the local provider’s acceptance requirements for that particular cylinder.
Ask a better question than how many years remain
For a new purchase, ask who can support both parts of the system near where you will use it. For a system already owned, have the responsible service provider distinguish completed work from work merely recommended. A future due date does not establish present condition after a fault or damaging event, and the presence of pressure does not prove that a breathing assembly works properly. Do not attempt a home cylinder inspection or adjust a regulator to create your own approval. A clear two-part maintenance plan makes ownership costs and responsibilities easier to compare without converting routine service into a safety promise.
Make the inquiry specific
Review TRIMIX T-500 listing, then ask TRIMIX about the exact configuration. Include the model, destination and the particular document or service question you need answered. This prepares an email; it does not send it, place an order or confirm availability. TRIMIX has not performed a comparative or hands-on test for this article.
