A report that a BCD is back in stock does not document the service history of a weight pocket already in an equipment bag. October 8, 2026 coverage of the Hydros Pro 2 revisited European availability and SCUBAPRO’s Monorail repair programme. Owners should keep those two questions separate.

Identify the component in the notice

The US CPSC recall, dated April 9, concerns Monorail Weight Pockets sold as BCD accessories. It describes standard and mini sizes in multiple colours, with a black base, fabric pouch and grey plastic D-ring handle. The US sale period is November 2025 through February 2026.

The stated hazard is that the release handle can detach, preventing removal of the pocket in an emergency. The CPSC directs owners of recalled pockets to stop using them and register for free repair through an authorized dealer or SCUBAPRO’s return process.

Use the official identification information and photographs to establish whether your equipment is involved. The jacket’s name alone does not record the pocket’s purchase history or repair status. If the identification is uncertain, have the manufacturer or an authorized dealer resolve it.

A remedy still needs to reach the individual item

In its July 6 update, SCUBAPRO explains that repair kits are available globally and that the free work concerns the pocket’s D-ring handle. It directs customers to the company or an authorized dealer and explicitly asks customers not to perform the repair themselves.

The update also explains what to do if a pocket has not yet been repaired. That continuing owner action is central to reading later coverage. The existence of a repair programme is not a service record for every item previously sold.

Keep the region and the service record visible

The CPSC notice is the US recall document; SCUBAPRO’s update describes its broader remedy. Readers elsewhere should follow the manufacturer’s instructions applicable to their location rather than assuming that one national notice describes every regional process.

When buying used equipment or reviewing an existing kit, ask for the relevant item identification and evidence of completed authorized work. Keep that information with the equipment records. A date-stamped repair document answers a different question from a current sales listing or an owner’s recollection that the issue was “resolved.”

Our equipment evidence checklist explains the broader practice of matching claims to the exact hardware. Here the useful evidence is the actual pocket’s status, not a general headline about the product range.

Dates and scope: US recall: April 9; manufacturer update: July 6; recent discussion: October 8, 2026. Sources checked October 25. Current dealer stock and repair completion for any reader’s equipment have not been verified by TRIMIX.
