A free season pass and an open pool are two different parts of planning a swim. The District Council of Loxton Waikerie lists October 26 as the start of its 2026/27 public swimming season, while publishing both eligibility conditions for free access and a weather condition for general admission.
The current season information
The council’s Loxton Swimming Pool page schedules both centres to open from Monday, October 26, 2026. Its free-pass section covers adult district residents, under-16 dependants on a qualifying family pass, and recognised seasonal workers with a local employer’s confirmation letter. It directs applicants to create a Loxton/Waikerie Pool profile in Active World. Those conditions describe a local access policy, rather than free admission for every visitor.
The separate Waikerie pool page repeats the season arrangements and places that venue on Lawrie Terrace; Loxton’s venue is on Pine Avenue. The council says general admission opens only when the Bureau of Meteorology’s forecast for Loxton is at least 24°C at 17:00 on the preceding day. It also distinguishes school-term, school-holiday and public-holiday hours. We have not verified that opening condition for a particular day or observed actual admission on October 26.
Resolve eligibility before assuming a price
Our practical suggestion is to identify which category, if any, applies to the intended visitor. A temporary worker’s documentation question is different from a resident family’s dependant-pass question. Someone outside the listed categories should use the council’s current fees information rather than treating the word “free” as the general entry price.
Keep the required evidence and registration instructions attached to the correct person’s plan. A page explaining a program is not confirmation that an application has been accepted. We have not created a profile, submitted documents or checked any individual’s entitlement.
Keep the daily operating question separate
The weather condition gives the next planning step its own source and timing. A seasonal start date does not establish that every advertised session will operate regardless of that condition. Nor would today’s observed temperature, by itself, establish what the specified forecast said at the council’s decision time.
Record the actual venue and relevant timetable, then check the operator’s latest arrangement for the visit you intend. This is particularly useful when choosing between the two towns: shared season information does not make their addresses interchangeable.
The broader question of keeping local aquatic spaces available is discussed in our Australian community-pool renewal report. Here, the immediate reader task is narrower: understand the district’s published pass conditions and daily opening trigger before setting out.
Checked October 26, 2026. Current 2026/27 pages specify an October 26 season start but expose no verified publication date. This article reports scheduled arrangements, not proof that either venue has opened.
