A paddleboard brand is not enough information to order a motor adapter. The useful starting point is the actual fin box on the board in front of you. Two boards from the same brand can still require separate confirmation when their model, construction or fitted hardware differs. This guide focuses on documenting that interface before requesting a particular part.
Separate three named adapter families
Bixpy publishes distinct pages for its US Fin Adapter, Slide and Lock Fin Adapter and Flip and Lock Fin Adapter. Each page identifies its corresponding fin-box family and names K-1 and J-2 motors in the product title. These are manufacturer-specific examples of why a generic phrase such as SUP adapter is insufficient; they do not establish compatibility with every board or another brand’s motor.
Use those names to organize a question, rather than selecting the closest-looking photograph. Record which family the board manufacturer actually specifies. If its documentation uses a different name, preserve that wording and ask the adapter supplier to reconcile it with the intended part number. A familiar fin outline does not resolve a disagreement about the retaining mechanism.
Build a useful identification record
Before placing an order, assemble a small evidence set while the equipment is safely out of use. It should let a supplier identify the board without asking you to guess hidden measurements or modify anything:
- The board’s manufacturer, full model, year or version if known, and the original fin specification.
- A clear overall photograph showing the relevant box in its position on the board.
- Close photographs of the opening, the original fin’s mating surface and the supplied retaining hardware.
- The proposed motor model and the exact adapter product code, with links to their current instructions.
If dimensions are requested, ask which surfaces and reference points matter before measuring. Record units with every value. An outside dimension of a removed adapter is not automatically the internal clearance of the board’s box. Conflicting numbers or an uncertain identification should lead to a documented fitment question, not an attempt to force the hardware together.
Ask for a specific confirmation
A useful answer identifies the board, motor and adapter in the same sentence and states any additional original hardware required. Keep that answer with the relevant instructions. Treat an answer for a different board year or motor generation as a lead to investigate, rather than transferring it automatically to your own setup.
The broader TRIMIX SUP compatibility checklist covers the whole installation question. For this narrower adapter decision, ask about SUP thruster availability and compatibility with the model details and photographs above. TRIMIX currently has no public SUP-motor product listing, so this inquiry does not confirm a stocked motor, a compatible adapter or a purchase. Obtain the actual model-specific answer before ordering.
