Sharing one propulsion unit between two paddleboards sounds straightforward, but the purchasing question changes. You are no longer checking a single motor-to-board connection. You are checking two complete configurations, including the parts that remain with each board and the parts intended to move. A successful first installation is not evidence for the second one.
Give each board its own identity
Bixpy’s manufacturer model matcher asks for the watercraft manufacturer and model. Its SUP Adapter Bundle brings together US, Slide and Lock, and Flip and Lock adapters and discusses households with different fin arrangements. The K-1 kit FAQ conditions moving a motor between craft on having the correct adapters. These are manufacturer examples of a conditional arrangement, not proof that every pair of boards can share every motor.
Create one record for board A and another for board B, even if they look similar. Give each its full model and version, original fin-box description, proposed adapter code and the source of the fitment confirmation. If one board has been repaired or its original hardware is uncertain, keep that uncertainty attached to its own record.
Separate shared equipment from board-specific equipment
Use a simple two-column inventory. List what the supplier actually confirms can move between the setups, and separately list what must be available for each board. The motor alone is not the whole question:
- Identify the adapter and retaining hardware required by each particular board.
- Record the documented power and control configuration associated with the motor.
- Ask whether any cable, attachment component or mounting arrangement differs between boards.
- Keep each configuration’s instructions and any written supplier confirmation together.
- Record who will use each setup and whether sharing is sequential rather than simultaneous.
This worksheet is a purchasing and documentation tool. It is not an instruction to leave an unapproved mount installed, adapt a component yourself or assume that a second rider has a complete system when essential parts have moved away with the first. Where a component is absent from a kit, identify it explicitly rather than relying on the previous owner’s arrangement.
Compare the cost of complete usable configurations
Ask for a quotation showing the shared components once and each board-specific requirement separately. That makes the comparison with two independent setups more meaningful. It also exposes an unresolved adapter question before it becomes a duplicate purchase. Do not add a speculative speed or runtime advantage simply because the same motor is used; performance evidence must match the craft and configuration being discussed.
Use the TRIMIX SUP compatibility checklist for the wider board information, then ask about SUP thruster availability and compatibility with both setup records. No public TRIMIX SUP-motor product is currently listed, so this is a model-confirmation inquiry, not a claim that a compatible system is available. Obtain the actual answers for both boards before treating them as interchangeable.
