Which 8 mm Fill Plug? Separate the Quick Coupling From the Valve Connection

A 1964 US Divers type J valve photographed October 8, 2012. Its distinct inlet and outlet provide historical connector context. This is neither an 8 mm fill plug nor a T-500 component. An 8 mm description may help you locate a mini scuba fill connector in a catalogue. Before requesting the part, separate the joint that mates with the external filling equipment from the joint where the plug belongs on the breathing assembly. A quote can identify one side clearly and leave the other side unanswered.

Identify the two sides

The English product structure in the T-500 User Manual labels an 8 mm inflation plug. The manual describes the filling methods for the T-500 configuration. Use the assembly diagram to locate the named component and identify the model in your request. A label in that diagram does not supply the replacement part specification for every equipment version.

The 8 mm Male Filling Connector listing describes one male connector and flags mating profile, thread, seal, clearance and working pressure as separate compatibility questions. Confirm which of those details the supplier has documented for your actual model. A matching headline diameter leaves the profile and internal joint to be resolved.

Build a request with two interface rows

  • Filling side. Record the make and model of the hose or filling equipment and its mating coupling. Ask for confirmation of the exact interface profile and required clearance.
  • Valve side. Record the cylinder and breathing assembly identity. Request the part number, the exact connection and the approved sealing arrangement for the identified assembly.
  • Whole setup. Ask a qualified provider to confirm the applicable working limits, service process and checks for the complete system.

Include any markings you can see and the service provider’s observations. The point of requesting the specifications is to avoid asking someone to verify a fit by trying a part on pressurised equipment. If the seller can name the coupling side but cannot identify the valve side, keep the part decision open.

Report symptoms separately

A request for a new plug and a report of a leak are different jobs. Report the affected area and equipment identification to the service provider and let them determine which part needs assessment. This guide does not tell you to remove a plug or repair a valve.

Ask about the exact TRIMIX filling connector with both interface rows. If a technician already identified the replacement part, include that reference in the same request.
