A small piece missing from the edge of a fin blade can leave you searching for the wrong part. For some fins the piece is a removable skeg. Other fins have shaped blade edges that belong to the blade itself. If you use the fins for snorkeling, travel or diving, start with the model name and the maker’s description of that edge before ordering a replacement.

Locate the accessory in the maker’s documents

SCUBAPRO’s GO Sport fin page describes skegs at the blade ends and says the supplied skeg color varies with the fin color. The manufacturer’s Scuba Skegs listing names the GO Sport, GO Sport Gorilla and Seawing Supernova as compatible fin models. Those are specific product names. If a receipt says only GO, the accessory listing gives you a reason to ask which GO model you actually own.

Start by writing down the name on the fin and taking one photo of the blade edge and another of the whole fin. A second fin from the same pair can help you show where the piece belongs. Ask the maker or dealer to identify the mounting point from those details, especially if the edge itself appears damaged. A spare kit leaves a damaged mounting point to be assessed separately.

Count pieces as well as pairs

The Scuba Skegs listing describes four pieces in a set for a pair of fins. That quantity matters if you need to replace one missing item or prepare matching equipment for several people. Write the exact pack count into the order and ask whether the seller offers a pack or a single part. Keep the color request separate from the part identification. Color can help identify equipment in a shared gear bag, but it tells you little about the blade connection.

Use one short purchase note

Include the complete fin model, a photograph of the mounting point, the accessory name or number, the quantity you need and whether the blade is damaged. Ask who should inspect or fit the part before the fins go back into use. SCUBAPRO describes stability and reduced sideslip as design intentions for the named equipment. TRIMIX has made no comparative fin measurements for this guide.

The TRIMIX guide to modular fin components explains how to document a separate blade or foot-pocket purchase. For a TRIMIX equipment question, prepare an inquiry with your fin model and the part you need. The SCUBAPRO accessories here are manufacturer examples.
