A little water near the mouthpiece is a useful observation to report when a snorkel repeatedly gurgles or no longer behaves as expected. That observation alone leaves the cause open. Before ordering a lower purge valve, write down the exact model and ask whether the manufacturer identifies that valve as a serviceable part.
Find the bottom component on the actual snorkel
SCUBAPRO’s Spectra Dry listing for item 26.722.130 describes both a dry top and a purge valve at the lower end. TUSA’s Hyperdry Elite II SP0101 page describes its own covered lower valve and angled purge chamber. These product descriptions let you identify two assemblies to name in an inquiry: the top mechanism and the lower valve area. A different maker’s covered chamber gives no basis to order a part for your tube.
Describe what happened without diagnosing the cause
Give the dealer the model code and note where you saw water, whether the behavior started after storage or an impact, and whether you can see debris or damage from the outside. Photographs of the assembled snorkel and its markings are useful. If a fault is suspected, keep the snorkel out of use until it is assessed. The TUSA mask and snorkel instructions direct owners with suspected defects to an authorized dealer and warn against unauthorized disassembly or alteration.
Separate ordinary care from a parts order
The SCUBAPRO instruction sheet linked from the Spectra Dry page calls for regular condition checks, original spare parts for service and fresh-water rinsing, with attention to dirt around the seal area described in the sheet. Ask the maker what care and inspection apply to your exact tube. Ask separately whether it supplies the lower valve on its own, supplies a larger assembly, or requires dealer service. The manual’s reference to original spares does not identify a lower valve part number.
The TRIMIX guide to snorkel top designs explains how to identify the upper assembly. For a TRIMIX equipment question, prepare an inquiry with the model and your specific question. The examples above are independently documented by their makers. TRIMIX has performed no fault diagnosis or component testing for this guide.
