Electric SUP Motors: What “Low Maintenance” Still Leaves You to Do

The motor may be the exciting part of an electric paddleboard setup, but ownership includes everything that happens after the board returns to shore. A useful October reminder from Bixpy is that reduced mechanical servicing does not remove the need to care for equipment.

The October reminder

Bixpy’s care article, displayed as October 14, 2026, says its electric motors avoid fuel-related upkeep while still needing attention to residue, connections and battery storage. It recommends fresh-water rinsing and drying, and directs owners to the documentation for their exact motor and battery. Its app-update advice names particular power packs and the remote; that does not establish app support for every older model. Read Bixpy’s maintenance article.

This is manufacturer guidance, rather than a TRIMIX durability test. It also concerns Bixpy equipment; a different motor’s sealing, connectors and care instructions can differ. Transfer the ownership questions to another product, then use that product’s own answers.

Give the system its own record

Our suggestion is a simple equipment record with four entries: motor model, battery model, charger model and the current manual. Add a photograph of each label while the equipment is clean and accessible. This makes a future support conversation much more precise than asking about an unidentified “SUP motor.”

Bixpy’s official manual directory separates motors, power packs and control equipment. That structure is useful: the motor’s manual alone is not the complete reference for an electrically powered board. Save the documents that match the components you actually own, with their revision information where available.

Make the routine easy to finish

Think about the journey from water to storage before choosing a kit. Where can you follow the maker’s cleaning instructions? Where will the equipment dry? Can you keep the battery and charger in their specified conditions? Is there somewhere to keep small caps, fasteners and the remote together?

These practical questions can influence whether a powerful system gets used regularly. A compact checklist beside the storage area is often more useful than relying on memory after a long day. Mark an item complete only after doing it, and keep photographs of anything that has changed since the previous session.

Keep observation separate from repair

A visible change is information for support, not permission to open a sealed component or improvise a charging method. Record what you noticed, the component involved and when it last worked normally. Ask the manufacturer which checks are appropriate before attempting a repair.

For shoppers, this changes the comparison: ask about manuals, replacement parts, support and storage alongside thrust and weight. A setup that fits your after-session routine may be a better ownership choice than one with an impressive headline specification.

Ask TRIMIX for the care documentation of a listed propulsion product, including its battery and charger details.
