Entering an open-water event can involve more than selecting a distance. The current New South Wales championship page illustrates why swimmers should keep the race entry, qualification information and a separate declaration together when preparing an application.
The October entry window
Swimming NSW lists its 2026 Open Water Championships for November 21–22 at Speers Point Jetty. Entries opened October 1. The published closing time is November 10 at 11:59pm, with no late entries accepted. It also requires a waiver declaration by 5pm on November 13 and says an entry will be withdrawn without it. Read both deadlines on the official championship page; confirm the organiser’s applicable local time before relying on a deadline.
The listed Saturday distances are 10km, 7.5km and JX 2.5km; Sunday lists 5km. The page links qualification criteria and an athlete, coach and team-manager guide. It also identifies a separate online route for certain 5km entries using an 800m, 1500m or 2.5km time. A distance appearing in the program does not establish that every interested swimmer is eligible.
Use the correct entry route
Swimming Australia’s Swim Central help guide explains that membership and club-relationship requirements are checked and that eligible events are shown for the selected swimmer. It distinguishes adding nominations from completing the purchase and describes checking the confirmation and completed transaction. Read the official entry-system guide. This is background on the portal; the championship’s own conditions still control its entry routes.
Make a two-deadline checklist
Our recommendation is to make one record for each intended swim. Start with the exact event name, date and distance, then attach the qualification document and identify which entry route applies. Do that before paying for travel or assuming a club member has completed the entry on your behalf.
| Task | Evidence to retain |
|---|---|
| Check eligibility | The relevant conditions and the swimmer’s applicable entry basis. |
| Submit the entry | The event and swimmer selected, confirmation, and transaction status. |
| Complete the declaration | The organiser’s required waiver and its separate deadline. |
| Recheck the event page | The latest published guide and any subsequent start-list instructions. |
A screenshot of a shopping cart is not the same record as a completed nomination. Likewise, a completed entry does not prove that a separate declaration has been received. If something is unclear, resolve it through the organiser’s official channel before the relevant deadline.
For equipment planning, begin with the event’s own conditions. Ask TRIMIX to clarify an exact listed product specification only after identifying the requirement you need to meet; we do not process championship entries or determine eligibility.
Checked October 24, 2026. This is an October entry-window selection for a November event, not a newly announced race. Original publication date of the event page was not stated; the portal guide shows an update dated December 30, 2025.
