SUP Battery Temperature Limits: Keep Charging, Discharging and Storage Separate

A cold-weather specification needs a verb beside it. A battery may have separate conditions for supplying power, receiving a charge and sitting unused. Before choosing an electric fin for seasonal use, compare those conditions separately instead of copying the widest temperature range into every part of the ownership plan.

Identify the battery behind the numbers

Boost Surfing’s Boost Fin Specs identifies a 77.7 Wh, 22.2 V, 3500 mAh battery and links to its battery specification. That linked Battery Specs and Lifetime page gives a charging range of 0–45°C and a discharging range of −20–60°C. These are manufacturer specifications for the documented battery context. They do not establish the limits of a Long Range version, another battery revision or a different brand.

The practical distinction is visible without testing either endpoint: the listed discharge range extends below the listed charge range. Copying the discharge figure into a charging plan would misread the source. Neither range proves useful runtime at an extreme temperature, and neither describes a suitable environment for the paddler.

Add a third row for storage

Boost’s separate warranty and battery-storage guide lists storage conditions of −20–45°C and also specifies humidity and environmental conditions. That is a storage statement, rather than a replacement charging specification. Obtain the complete current instructions that match the delivered unit before using any numerical range.

State Question to resolve before purchase
Discharging Which exact battery and operating conditions does the published range cover?
Charging What limits apply to the actual battery and its approved charger?
Storage What temperature, moisture and other conditions apply while unused?

Compare the equipment with the places you have

Describe the intended storage room and charging location to the supplier. A lake’s water temperature, a weather forecast and an indoor room reading are different observations; none should silently stand in for whatever temperature the manufacturer requires you to assess. Ask which component or environment its instruction refers to and how the owner is expected to establish compliance.

Keep an unanswered or conflicting limit open for the manufacturer to resolve. Do not try to enlarge a range with insulation, external heating, a modified charger or a bypass of protective electronics. This article provides no warming, charging or recovery procedure. Its buying outcome is a set of matched conditions that your actual ownership arrangements can meet.

Ask about the actual SUP setup

Use the TRIMIX SUP compatibility checklist for the board and adapter questions. To ask about actual SUP thruster availability and documentation, provide the board, fin-box, motor and adapter identities, your country and the question raised here. There is no current public TRIMIX SUP-motor listing. An inquiry does not confirm supply, compatibility or an order, and it does not automatically send an email.

Evidence and date notes

Evergreen equipment guide checked November 5, 2026. Older and undated documents are current source checks, not new-launch or popularity claims.
