Leaving a SUP Motor Unused for Months? Compare the Ownership Schedule Before Buying

A seasonal paddleboard purchase may spend more months stored than operating. Before choosing a propulsion kit for a holiday home or occasional trips, ask who will perform its documented battery checks during the gaps. Low use is not the same thing as no ownership work.

The interval belongs to the named equipment

Boost Surfing’s winter-care guide, last updated December 16, 2025, calls for monthly charging attention even when the fin is unused. By contrast, Bixpy’s January 22, 2026 battery-care article names PP-378, PP-768 and NB-1440 and describes periodic checks and recharging as needed at least every three months during extended non-use. These are different manufacturer’s records, not interchangeable instructions.

The comparison identifies a commitment to clarify before buying. It is not a universal charging calendar, and this article does not prescribe a charge percentage, temperature, recovery method or charging sequence. Obtain the current instructions for the exact delivered unit; ask its maker to resolve any disagreement between a general article and that unit’s manual before acting.

Compare the work you can actually arrange

Make an ownership note with four fields: component, applicable document, required check or service interval, and the responsible person. A removable pack and an electric fin with an integrated battery may require different access arrangements. Ask which assembly must be available for the specified care; do not assume a sealed battery can be removed.

Then compare that requirement with the actual storage situation. Will someone have authorized access to the equipment and its correct charger? Can the maker’s storage and charging conditions be maintained there? Who can contact support if the unit appears damaged or behaves differently? These questions are especially useful when the owner is away for a season.

Keep a record of care, not just a reminder

Our practical suggestion is a short dated record of the component checked, the relevant manual and any observation referred to support. A calendar reminder shows that work was planned; it does not show that the equipment was inspected or maintained. Avoid writing a completed check retrospectively from memory.

If the required access and attention cannot be arranged, leave the purchase condition unresolved rather than assuming that one charge before departure will cover any length of absence. Ask the manufacturer about an approved storage or service arrangement. Do not attempt to revive a nonresponsive battery with improvised equipment. The purpose of this comparison is to choose an ownership commitment you can meet, not to promise battery life, warranty acceptance or safety from a generic checklist.

Ask about the complete SUP setup

The TRIMIX SUP compatibility checklist covers the separate physical-fit question. To ask about actual SUP thruster availability and documentation, provide the board, fin-box, motor and adapter models, your country and the ownership question described here. There is no current public TRIMIX SUP-motor listing. Preparing an inquiry does not confirm supply, compatibility or an order, and does not automatically send an email.
