Attached Drysuit Boots or Drysocks With Overboots? Compare the Ownership Arrangement

A drysuit order can specify footwear in two substantially different ways: a boot attached to the suit, or an attached drysock worn inside a separate overboot. Before comparing soles, decide which parts would remain with the garment and which would be separate purchases.

Identify the complete arrangement

DUI’s boot-style selector describes its RockBoot arrangement as an attached drysock with a RockBoot worn over it. Its TurboBoot is attached directly to the suit and has a sneaker-style sole and ankle straps. These named options establish different constructions; they do not make an ordinary wetsuit sock equivalent to the drysock supplied with that drysuit.

The separate overboot adds an item to pack and identify. An attached boot stays with the garment, but that does not make its size or service needs disappear. Ask for the exact footwear option on the suit order rather than accepting only the word boots.

Replacement follows the component boundary

DUI explains that a worn RockBoot can be replaced as a separate pair, while replacement of an attached TurboBoot involves work on the suit. This is an ownership distinction to discuss before purchase, not permission to cut footwear off a garment or a prediction of when either item will wear out.

For a quotation, ask separately about the attached drysock or boot, the external overboot where applicable, and the provider responsible for garment alterations. Retain the exact sizes and references. A replacement overboot order and a suit-footwear repair request should not be treated as the same transaction.

Fit includes insulation and fins

The DUI RockBoot product page says its sizes accommodate drysuit insulation. The selector likewise asks buyers to identify different insulation intentions. A familiar everyday shoe size is therefore only part of a fitting discussion, particularly when an overboot adds another layer around the foot.

  • Bring the intended insulation and identify the actual attached footwear.
  • Ask the dealer to assess the complete footwear combination in the intended fin.
  • Record the separate sizes instead of treating a suit size as a boot size.
  • Request the care and replacement information for each supplied item.

DUI also makes claims about support, flexibility and traction for its designs. Those are manufacturer descriptions, not a TRIMIX walking or finning comparison, and no sole guarantees grip on every access route. The purchasing outcome is a documented complete combination, with a clear replacement responsibility.

Read the TRIMIX buying guide and ask about actual equipment availability with the suit, footwear and fin identities. This does not establish that TRIMIX supplies DUI products.

Evergreen guide checked November 6, 2026. Both manufacturer pages are undated; current access is not a launch date. No fitting, traction test, alteration or drysuit operating procedure was performed for this article. An inquiry prepares a message; it is not an order or confirmation of stock.
