A diving club considering the Heinke Trophy 2027 needs to act this month, but it does not need to compress a future year of activities into a November report. BSAC’s latest reminder separates registration, the activity year, final submission and the winner announcement. Keeping those dates apart makes the commitment easier to assess.
The new reminder concerns registration
In its November 4 final call, BSAC says clubs should register their intention to enter by November 30, 2026. The award is open to BSAC clubs in the UK and overseas, including diving and snorkelling clubs of different sizes and ages. This is an organization’s award-entry window, not a new legal requirement or a diving qualification.
The reminder arrives within a day of this article’s source check. It does not announce a winner. Nor does the 2027 name mean the registration deadline falls in November 2027.
Put the commitment on a calendar
| Stage | Official timing |
|---|---|
| Register intention to enter | By November 30, 2026 |
| Record the club’s activity year | January 1–December 31, 2027 |
| Submit the final report | By January 31, 2028 |
| Winner announcement | Spring 2028 |
The separate official award guidance describes the preparation and activity phases and allows digital or multimedia reporting as well as traditional formats. A format choice does not change the activity period or submission deadline.
Decide who can maintain the record
For a club committee, the immediate practical question is whether someone can coordinate a year of evidence. An event organizer, training coordinator and membership volunteer may each hold part of the story. Our suggestion is to agree who gathers their records and who checks what may be included before choosing an elaborate presentation format.
Keep dates, activity descriptions and source records together. A planned trip belongs in a planning record until it actually happens; a training session should be described according to what was delivered. A photograph can illustrate an activity but cannot establish attendance, achievement or a conservation result on its own. Request the award team’s guidance where report requirements remain unclear.
The useful next step is to read the official entry information and decide whether the club can sustain that record through 2027. This article does not register any club, contact an adjudicator or claim that a particular activity will earn an award. Its purpose is to prevent the registration deadline from being mistaken for either the activity-year cutoff or the final-report deadline.
