A camera bundle and an underwater imaging course answer different needs. Insta360’s November 3 announcement at DEMA Show introduces an education pathway with PADI alongside its equipment display. For a diver considering the course, the useful distinction is between buying hardware, finding an authorized instructor and completing the training requirements.

The development is an announced specialty course

In its official DEMA announcement, Insta360 describes the Insta360 X Series Diver PADI Distinctive Specialty Course. The manufacturer outlines preparation, underwater capture, editing and sharing as parts of the learning journey. Its official news index dates the story November 3, 2026, during the November 3–6 DEMA Show in New Orleans.

The announcement describes a collaboration and training pathways. It does not establish that every PADI centre already offers a scheduled course, that every instructor is authorized to teach it or that purchasing an advertised camera package awards a certification.

Two pathways have different completion steps

According to Insta360, eligible PADI instructors receive specialized training and must complete an evaluation before authorized instructors can offer the course. Student divers complete knowledge development, open-water training dives and post-production reframing exercises, with certification dependent on fulfilling the course requirements. These are attributed announcement details, not TRIMIX attendance or an independent assessment of the course.

Prospective participant What to confirm with the provider
Diver Entry requirements, scheduled training and all completion requirements
Instructor Eligibility, the evaluation pathway and actual teaching authorization
Equipment buyer Which camera, housing, software and accessories the booked course requires or provides

Make the editing stage part of the enquiry

A 360 workflow continues after the dive. Ask how the provider arranges the editing and reframing exercises, which software is used, what computer or phone is needed and whether equipment is supplied. A course that includes post-production cannot be compared solely by the number of dives or the price of a camera bundle.

Also ask which published standards and provider information apply to your enrolment, including the actual dates, prerequisites and included equipment. Leave anything missing as a question for the instructor rather than borrowing requirements from another specialty. The announcement alone is not a complete booking specification.

TRIMIX has not enrolled anyone, evaluated an instructor, tested an X6 bundle or verified playback of a new demonstration video. This article makes no camera depth, stitching or AI-performance claim. Its practical value is to identify the distinct training commitment behind the launch, so an interested diver can ask a provider about the whole course before making an equipment-dependent decision.
