Dive-Computer Straps: A Longer Band and an Extension Are Different Purchases

If a dive-computer strap is too short over exposure protection, a longer band and an add-on extension can sound interchangeable. They are different purchase descriptions. Identify the connection system already fitted to the computer before ordering anything with the right-looking width or colour.

Keep the current strap system with the computer model

Shearwater’s Remora Band Colour Strap Kit names Teric, Tern and Tern TX compatibility and the Remora Quick Release System. It lists a 110mm short band, a 145mm long band, a 75.5mm buckle band and 22mm band width. These are component dimensions, not a guaranteed usable wrist circumference obtained by adding the figures together.

Ask how the complete assembled strap is sized, which components are supplied and what connection hardware is required on the actual computer. A width field alone does not describe the end connection, buckle arrangement or the adjustment remaining when worn over your equipment.

Compare complete systems before comparing materials

The separate Remora Webbing Colour Strap Kit for Drysuit also names Teric, Tern and Tern TX and the Remora system. Shearwater describes drysuit use and a quick-release snap buckle. This is a separately identified kit, rather than evidence that a loose extension from another strap generation connects to it.

Make a comparison sheet with the computer model, currently fitted strap system, proposed kit identifier, supplied parts and intended exposure-protection arrangement. Record an extension as an extension only when the maker identifies the component that it extends. Treat a replacement long band as a different item unless the documentation says otherwise.

Resolve mixed-generation offers before ordering

For used equipment or a listing assembled from several photographs, request clear images of the existing attachment points and the complete offered kit. Ask the manufacturer or its authorized support whether the combination is supported and whether any additional hardware is needed. A seller describing something as suitable for Teric does not establish which strap system is already on a particular used computer.

Do not trim, drill, glue or adapt a connector to make a near match fit. Obtain the correct installation instructions and appropriate assistance for the exact setup. During suitable equipment familiarisation, confirm fit and access with the exposure protection you actually use; this article does not supply attachment, retention or underwater adjustment procedures.

Make a parts-specific request

Ask TRIMIX about actual computer-strap availability and documentation with the computer, strap system and proposed part. No supply of these Shearwater kits or TRIMIX fit test is established here. An unanswered connector or sizing question should stay open rather than being replaced by a reassuring photograph.
