Dive-Light Hand Mounts: Compare the Handle and the Light Connection Separately

A hand mount is only useful when both its hand-side arrangement and its light-side connection suit the intended equipment. Before buying a rigid handle or a soft mount, describe those two interfaces separately. A torch shown resting on a handle does not prove that the package includes every part needed to connect them.

Compare the hand-side construction

Dive Rite’s Goodman Handmount with QRM describes an adjustable rigid mount with a hard-coat aluminium construction. The manufacturer lists 170 grams and multiple QRM options. Keep the exact offered configuration beside the weight rather than assuming every listing includes the same connection parts.

The maker’s Soft Handmount with QRM instead describes a wraparound arrangement with an elastic strap and ladder-lock adjustment. Both examples use the QRM name. Their different hand-side construction is therefore a separate buying variable from the light-side mounting system.

Identify both halves of the connection

Request the complete light model, mount identifier and connection-parts list. Ask whether the offer contains a receiver only, a complete matching connection or another documented option, and which part is already present on your light. Do not infer a universal torch fit from a familiar quick-release label or the diameter of a light body.

Keep a missing answer visible in the comparison. The right handle shape with an unconfirmed light connection is still an incomplete equipment proposal. Similarly, a documented light connection cannot tell you how a particular hand, glove and activity arrangement will feel.

Use the actual gloves and equipment context

Ask your instructor or appropriate equipment professional to help assess the proposed arrangement during suitable familiarisation. Identify which hand and gloves you expect to use, how controls are reached and what the manufacturer’s instructions require. A catalogue’s fit claim is not a personal fit assessment or an independent retention test.

Keep that conversation within the intended diving and training context. This guide does not provide light-handling, signaling, overhead-environment or emergency procedures. Do not improvise clamps, straps or hanging lines to overcome an undocumented interface.

Check the ownership details before the purchase

Ask which instructions cover adjustment and care, which replacement parts can be identified for the exact mount, and whether the proposed configuration changes the supplied package. Record the answers alongside the light’s own documentation. A beam-output comparison answers a different question from a mounting comparison; neither substitutes for the other.

If considering the listed TRIMIX SF02 Diving Flashlight, its public description supplies one flashlight and does not establish a Goodman or QRM connection. Ask for the actual SF02 mounting details before proposing a separate handle. This product-specific inquiry does not confirm mount compatibility, stock or an order. No TRIMIX handling or retention test is established.

Sources and verification

Evergreen equipment guide checked November 2, 2026. Both Dive Rite pages carry original publication metadata January 11, 2023; Goodman page modification April 22, 2025 and soft-mount modification October 8, 2024. These dates are page records, not product launch dates. Manufacturer descriptions are not TRIMIX fit or retention tests.
