A snorkeling bundle name is not a complete contents list. Combo, set and bag may describe different packages, sometimes within the same brand. Before comparing prices, turn each offered package into a list of named components, quantities, sizes and included accessories.
Use two real packages to understand the difference
Cressi’s Nautilus Snorkel Combo is described as an adult mask-and-snorkel combination. The maker’s Pro Star Fins Set explicitly names Pro Star fins, a Matrix mask and a Gamma snorkel. That is a different component list from the two-item Nautilus example; the word set alone does not establish the contents of another offer.
Build a component-by-component record
For every candidate, write down the mask model, snorkel model, fin model if included, size selection and quantity. Then add the case or bag and any other accessory explicitly stated in the listing. Mark items not specified as unconfirmed. Do not include an object merely because it appears in a lifestyle photograph or next to the product.
Keep product names intact. If a set description names a particular snorkel, a visually similar tube is not automatically an equivalent substitute. Ask whether the seller allows substitutions, which revision is supplied and whether the written quote will preserve the agreed component list.
Check sizing component by component
A fin-size selector does not establish that a bundled mask will fit your face. Ask which elements vary with the chosen option, whether each part has its own size information and whether an unsuitable component can be addressed under the actual seller’s policy. Do not infer a return or exchange promise from the brand name.
Compare complete offers only after these questions are answered. A two-item combo can be useful if you already own suitable fins; it does not become an incomplete three-item set just because another package contains more pieces. The practical choice depends on what you need and which components fit, rather than the greatest item count.
Use a written inquiry to prevent ambiguity
Send the exact listing or SKU and ask for the supplied contents in writing. Include any size or color requirements and identify optional accessories separately. A precise component list is also useful later when identifying a missing part or asking for supported spares.
For a TRIMIX inquiry, request the actual proposed snorkeling configuration and contents. The buying guide explains the process. These conventional Cressi examples establish no TRIMIX bundle stock, and a specialized cylinder-connected mask system should not be substituted as an ordinary mask-and-snorkel set.
Evidence note: Evergreen purchasing guide checked October 29, 2026. The two manufacturer pages are undated. Package examples are documentation references, not TRIMIX stock confirmations, fit tests or completed orders.
