Timed Boost or Sustained Assist? Read What the SUP Control Mode Does

A long-assist button and a long-running battery answer different buying questions. Before selecting an electric fin for a paddleboard, establish what each control mode commands: an individual burst, a timed programme or assistance that continues under the documented control arrangement. A mode name alone does not settle that distinction.

Read the programme, not just the button label

Boost Surfing’s Long Range description identifies separate Short Boost and Long Boost modes and says their parameters can be configured through its app. Those are names within a particular product’s control scheme. The word long should not be expanded into a promise of indefinite operation or the same behaviour on another motor.

The maker’s Quick Start Guide also distinguishes Standard Surf and Standard SUP profiles and identifies Surf as the default. That is a second selection layer: the intended activity profile and the programme assigned to a control are not interchangeable descriptions. This article does not supply setup or activation steps.

Compare a complete mode description

Ask the supplier to complete one row for each intended mode. A useful comparison preserves four fields rather than reducing everything to a number of buttons:

  • Trigger: which documented control selects that programme?
  • Duration: is assistance timed, and what setting determines its duration?
  • Output setting: what level or permitted range belongs to that programme?
  • End condition: what documented action or condition ends ordinary assistance?

Keep the maker’s terminology beside your plain-English description. If a demonstration shows a short burst but the sales conversation promises sustained assistance, ask for the document that connects those two descriptions. Do not infer an undocumented operating mode from a screenshot or a rider’s review.

Choose for the expected interaction

Describe whether you want occasional assistance while paddling or a different documented pattern of use. Then compare how the actual supported controls address that expectation. The exercise evaluates the interaction you are buying, rather than estimating battery endurance or prescribing a route.

Retain the exact fin, remote and relevant software/profile identity with the supplier’s explanation. A future settings change should not silently alter the description used to choose the equipment. An unanswered duration or control question remains an unresolved purchase condition; it is not evidence of a hidden feature. TRIMIX has not tested these control modes or established supply of the illustrated systems.

Ask about the complete SUP setup

The TRIMIX SUP compatibility checklist covers the wider hardware record. To ask about actual SUP thruster availability and fitment, provide the board, fin-box, motor and adapter models, your country and the specific question above. There is no current public TRIMIX SUP-motor listing. Preparing an inquiry does not confirm supply, compatibility or an order.
